The Power Of Women In Classical Music

Main Project Image

While reading the ISTD brief, I initially chose the theme Power. However, I did not want to approach it in a literal way, such as focusing on the power of water, electricity, or energy. This year, I was very keen to design my own editorial typography project around classical music, as it is something deeply connected to me. I decided to explore the power of women in classical music, highlighting women composers, conductors, and violinists who broke barriers within a very male-dominated industry. I wanted to celebrate the women who have made a significant impact on classical music and helped shape its history. I also wanted the editorial to speak to younger generations of women, especially those interested in music. As a violinist and musician myself, building a career in music alongside design, this is the type of editorial I wish I had been able to read when I was younger. Because of that, the project felt very personal and meaningful to me.
